Olympic Games torches used (L to R) at Rome 1960, Montreal 1976, Sydney 2000, Atlanta 1996 and 2002 Salt Lake Winter Games, are on display at ATHOC headquarters in Athens January 25, 2002. The organising committee of the Athens 2004 Olympics has asked several well-known Greek artists and designers to come up with concepts for the 2004 torch in an invitational competition. According to manager of 2004 torch relay Thanassis Kritsinelis every torch designed for the Games must be light, easy to use, have a colourful flame and not burn the runners hand or hair when the wind changes.
