Hugo Koblet was the winner of the Tour de France 1951 in Zurich, in the foreground his mother. Koblet, who won the Tour in 1951, together with Ferdy Kuebler was one of the two big “Ks” of cycling. This year it is 50 years since Ferdy Kuebler won the 37th Tour de France with a tactical masterstroke. The following year, in 1951, the 38th Tour de France was dominated by Hugo Koblet. He won the time trial of Rennes - Angers and then beat the two Italian Coppi and Bartali in the 13th stage from Tarbes to Luchon in a thrilling Finnish. From this point on Koblet successfully defended the maillot yellow and won the tour confidently.
