On September 23, 1978, a delegation of the striking journalists of the Migros newspaper TAT informed the media and the public at the Volkshaus in Zurich about the next steps and their willingness to continue negotiations with Migros. The editorial staff of TAT under Roger Shavinski was striving for more critical reporting, which prompted the owner of TAT, the Migros Cooperative Association MGB, to dismiss Schawinski without notice. Additional tensions arose when the “Tat” employees founded a group of Swiss journalists and demanded a collective agreement. The employees went on strike and were subsequently all dismissed. The TAT has been suspended.
