Members of the governments of the countries involved at the dinner after the closing session of the Cyprus Conference on 11 February 1959 at the Grand Hotel Dolder in Zurich, Switzerland. The two state premiers Adnan Menderes, right, Turkey, and Konstantinos Karamanlis, left, Greece, are pressing the hand of the only Cypriot present, the newspaper publisher Tsangarides from Nicosia. At the conference in Zurich, partial contracts, agreements and declarations for the transition of the former British crown colony Cyprus to the independent Republic of Cyprus were debated. After further negotiations in London, Turkey, Greece, Great Britain and Cyprus sign the Zurich and London Agreements on 19 February 1959 in London, which regulate the constitutional issues of the State of Cyprus.
