Interior setting, of the family, all full length, at a piano with a pet dog to the left. On the left is a marble fireplace with Ionic pillar and Greek vase on mantlepiece. In front of it is a black dog being hugged by a young child who is turned to the right. The child is wearing a long white dress. A young man stands centre, looking at some music on a paino, turning the pages with his left hand whilst his right hand holds the back of a chair on which a young woman sits, playing the piano wearing a long red dress with short sleeves. Sir Thomas Acland, 10th Bt was the son of Sir Thomas Dyke Acland, 9th Bt (1752-1794) and Henrietta Hoare (d.1841), in 1808 he married Lydia Elizabeth Hoare (1786-1856) the daughter of Henry Hoare (1750-1820) and Lydia Henrietta Mallortie. Their son married (i) in 1841 Mary Mordaunt (d.1851) and (ii) in 1892 Mary Erskine (d. 1892) and became a politician and educational reformer. Interior setting, on the left a marble fireplace with Ionic pillar and Greek vase on mantlepiece. To the right is a black dog being hugged by a young child who is turned to the left.
