South view showing the clerestory, the south aisle and transept, and the central square-and-octagonal tower. There is a more distant view of the south aisle of the chancel. Part of a group of medieval houses are visible to the west, which were used for the Grammar School and Council House, and had anciently been St. Bethelin's Chapel. [These were pulled down in the summer of 1802; `The Gentleman's Magazine'.] The south doorway is shown as a solid Georgian structure of the classical style.
