A GREEN TURTLE'S MOUTH IS OPENED DURING A CHECK-UP AT SYDNEY'S TARONGA ZOO, 2003-04-30 (photo)

A 30 kilogram (66 pound) Green Turtle has it's mouth opened by staff while on the operating table for a check-up at Sydney's Taronga Zoo April 30, 2003. The turtle was brought into the zoo's clinic by rangers who noticed the animal was breathing with difficulty and preferred to spend most of its time out of the water. The turtle was examined using a special scope that was inserted into its stomach in an effort to try and find any foreign bodies that might be lodged and causing discomfort.
