Switzerland Family (b/w photo)

Michel Gasppoz - a boy from the mountains in the canton of Valais, Switzerland, as US-American hero of a novel - appears in the book “Children of the World” by the US-American photographer Peter Buckley. Buckley strictly adhered to the principle of portraying young Michel exactly the way he normally lives. It was the Swiss Center for the Advancement of Transport, which pointed out to Peter Buckley the manifold possibilities in a Swiss mountain canton. Following the advice, he found the undistorted colorful little village Evolene and in the midst of it the mountain farmer family Gaspopz. The books' foreword refers to Michel as a representative of a lifestyle, which became necessary due to the unsparing conditions of life in the mountains. Buckley, one of the USA's top photographer, illustrated the mountain scenery partly with the help of the glacier pilot Geiger in a series of splendid images, which will undoubtedly contribute to the book's success with the US-American youth.
