Composed of a base of 24 m in height and 3 m high, topped by two columns of 38 m, with two colossal figures aileed 9 m symbolizing serene intelligence and severe force, the ensemble was realized with more than 2000 cubic metres of pink grey granite, following a project led by architect Michel Roux Spitz (Roux-Spitz 1888 - 1957) and sculptor Raymond Delamarre (1890 - 1986). The execution and assembly were carried out by the stone cutters of Cala Francese (Sardinia). Inaugurates on 3 February 1930, the monument commemorates the victory of the Allied armed forces over the Turkish army for the defence of the canal in February 1915.
