No government institution has full statistics on how many minors are engaged in prostitution. All research studies on the matter are qualitative; and show an increase on the phenomenon. Nicaragua is the main supplier of victims of sexual commercial exploitation. Victims are exported throughout the Central American area to centers for sexual exploitation.
