Beatrice Mary Petre, Mrs Henry Ferrers Ferrers (1858-1930)

An oval head-and-shoulders portrait of the sitter who is turned towards the right and looks out at the spectator. She wears a blue dress with a red stripe which is turned back onto her shoulders to form a large collar. There is a panel of lace at the front of the dress and a studded collar around her neck. She is set against a white cloudy sky with landscape suggested at the far left. One of a pair of oval portraits in gilded frames. A companion to 343532, a portrait of Henry Ferrers Ferrers (formerly Ferrers Croxon), who became Beatrice Petre's husband. The Hon. Beatrice Mary Petre was the daughter of Hon. Arthur Charles Augustus Petre (1827-1882) of Coptfold Hall, Essex (the son of William Henry Francis Petre, 11th Baron Petre) and Lady Katherine Howard (d.1882). She married Henry Ferrers Ferrers (1848-1923), son of Captain Boydell Croxton, on 11 February 1879. She died on 20 June 1930.
