Tomb of Kaemankh (photo)

Kaiemankh constructed his tomb in the Western Cemetery in one of the north-south streets between the older tombs. In his time, during the Sixth Dynasty, part of this street was already taken over by other officials. Detail of the south section of the west wall of the burial chamber shows life in the fields, with continuation of the scene of herdsmen taking care for cattle. Several bulls are shown behind each other and the hieroglyphic caption above the first large white bull with long horns identifies them as bulls of the grazing land. Black and red bulls follow after and a cow with a little calf are shown in the left part of the scene. The bottom register shows three men receiving grain from a granary to use it as crops for the fields. One man takes the grain in a bushel, while the overseer of granary and the scribe holding two papyrus scrolls are carefully watching him.
