Officer's coatee worn by Lieutenant John Bramwell, 1815 (c). British infantry wore red coats to be seen on smoky battlefields. Their red coats had different coloured lapels, cuffs and collars to aid identification - in this case yellow for the 92nd Regiment of Foot. This coatee was worn by Lieutenant John Bramwell who fought with the 92nd at the Battle of Quatre Bras (1815), losing a leg in the process.
