Image description: Arisaka 6.5 mm bolt action carbine with integral folding bayonet, Meiji 44th Year, issued to Imperial Household Cavalry 1944 (c). Introduced in 1911, this cavalry carbine has a distinctive integral folding bayonet and complex nosecap assembly. Like the Arisaka rifle, it was chambered for the lightweight 6.5 mm round. The sharp report of such a small bullet generated rumours of a high-velocity round being used by the Japanese, but the muzzle velocity of Japanese rifles was slightly lower than the Lee-Enfield.
