Image description: Afghan copy of a Martini Henry Artillery Carbine, 1952 (c). This home-made weapon uses parts (receiver and trigger guard) from a Martini Enfield carbine of 1901, but the rest of gun was made by a gunsmith in Afghanistan or the North-West Frontier. The tribesmen of these regions relied on home-made weapons to supplement the arms captured from their enemies, whether British, Russian or Pakistani.
