The ghost puts the thieves on the run. On the night of Christmas Eve, two criminals penetrate, believing it to be empty, into the house of a Turin nobleman. But while they are busy accumulating loot, they hear a door slowly open and the light of their flashlights illuminates a white ghostly figure on the threshold. A ghost! the terrified thieves shout. One runs away and the other faints. But the ghost who is none other than the old mother of the landlord, awakened by those unusual noises in the apartment, also faints. When the lady returns to her senses, the second thief also escaped, abandoning the bag with all the stolen goods. Illustration for Courier Sunday, 9 January 1955.
