A Dutch Pink was a small fishing vessel with a square mainsail, and a rounded stern. In this picture, fishermen in a small rowing boat have been out to collect crab or lobster pots. Edwin Hayes was known for the naturalness of his depictions of billowing sails, rough water and stormy skies. He lived in Ireland.
