TIPPER GORE AND DENNIS MARTINEZ GREET REFUGEES IN NICARAGUA, 1998-11-11 (photo)

Tipper Gore, wife of U.S. Vice President Al Gore, hugs a child as she and Major League Baseball pitcher Dennis Martinez of the Atlanta Braves (L) visit a refugee camp outside the Nicaraguan capital of Managua, November 11. Gore is heading a team of U.S. elected officials on a two-day tour of the region. Approximately 10,000 people have died in Honduras and Nicaragua as a result of the storm. There are reports that approximately 60 percent of the infrastructure of the Central American nations were destroyed by the storm.
