The School of Projects', 1809. Etching and aquatint by S Tipper for 'The Satirist', satirising the flotation of joint stock companies, reflected in three visually parallel projects. On the far right is William Brown, portrayed as the chairman of lunatic companies, Hope Insurance Co and Golden Lane Brewery. Next to him is George Leybourne who had planned to breed a sheep as a big as an ox. In the centre Frederick Winsor holds up a triple gas burner resembling a devil's tail. The engineer Ralph Dodd had plans for a tunnel from Gravesend to Tilbury, Kent to be gaslit by Winsor.
