Video description

An early unsuccessful test run of a prototype bouncing bomb codenamed "Highball" takes place on the Kent coast at Reculver. A US Douglas SBD Dauntless scout bomber releases the bomb, which bounces from sea to beach, shatters wooden groynes, and heads precariously towards camera. The bomb was developed by the engineer and inventor Barnes Neville Wallis alongside the "Upkeep" bouncing bomb used in the Dambusters Operation Chastise.
