Members of an extreme right-wing group calling themselves "The Temple Mount Faithfull" stage a sit-down protest at one of the smaller gates leading from the Jewish Quarter into the Temple Mount area As Israeli riot police block their way August 10, 2000 in Jerusalem. The group calls for the reconstruction of the ancient Temple on the Temple Mount, known in Arabic as al-Haram al-Sharif, situated nearby the Western Wall, Judiasm's holiest site. Several times each year they try to enter the Temple Mount are and are stopped by Israeli security forces who maintain the status quo at religious sites. JWH
