SERB REFUGEES SIT IN REFUGEE CAMP IN TOWN OF LEPOSAVIC, 2000-01-25 (photo)

A Serb refugees from Kosovska Mitrovica sit in a refugee camp in town of Leposavic some 60km north-west of Pristina on January 24. The Serbs from the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica and UNMIK and OSCE representatives have agreed on the new distribution of judiciary posts in that part of the province. The members of the Serb negotiating team have said that three out of five leading positions in the judiciary bodies in (the divided town of) Kosovska Mitrovica would be given to Serbs and two to the Albanians.According to the latest agreement, 23 judges from the district court in Kosovska Mitrovica would be Albanians, 14 Serbs and two Muslims. The final statement on the agreement will be given by the head of UNMIK, Bernard Kouchner, whose earlier decision stipulated that the post of judges was to be given to only three Serbs. GT/
