Image description

President of the International Court of Justice Judge Christopher Weeramantry from Sri Lanka reads the ruling in the case between The Republic of Yugoslavia and ten NATO member States at the Peace Palace in The Hague June 2. The International Court of Justice today will give its decisions on the request for the indication of provisional measures submitted by the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia against ten NATO member States, (Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, United kingdom and The United States) in the case of the legality of use of force. Yugoslavia filed it's request on April 29 1999 when it instituted proceedings before the International Court of Justice against the ten NATO member States, accusing them of bombing Yugoslav territory in violation of their obligation not to use force against another State.
