Muslims marching through London, 1938 A photograph of Muslims marching through Queen Victoria Street, London, taken by Tomlin for the Daily Herald newspaper on 18 August, 1938. The protest was made following derogatory references by H.G. Wells (1866-1946) in 'A Short History Of The World' (1922), towards the Prophet Mohammed and the Koran. The protest was disbanded on the embankment following a deputation made to the India Office, which functioned under the Secretary of State for India. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs.
