JAILED FARC GUERRILLAS SING DURING ACT IN JAIL, 1999-10-20 (photo)

TO ACCOMPANY STORY BC COLOMBIA-GUERRILLAS - A group of jailed Colombian Marxist rebels sing a revolutionary anthem as they stand to attention under a banner of rebel icon Ernesto Che Guevara in Bogota's La Modelo prison. For Armed Revolutionary Forces of Colombia guerrillas, prison is another "trench" in their long-running uprising. They refer to themselves as prisoners of war and vow they will never surrender in the fight to topple the state and usher in a socialist regime. The FARC's supreme commander is demanding that the governemnt releases some 450 jailed rebels in return for the release of 350 security force members captured in fighting over the last two years.
