ISRAELI DEMONSTRATE IN AVIVIM ALONG LEBANESE BORDER AGAINST ISRAELI PULLOUT FROM SECURITY ZONE, 2000-04-09 (photo)

Israeli residents of the Kibbutz Avivim march along the wire fence border with southern Lebanon in a demonstration April 9 calling for Israel not to withdraw from the entire self-declared "security zone" in Southern Lebanon. The residents of this kibbutz (communal village) are protesting that they will be vunerable to accacks from the Hizbollah forces inside Lebanon should Israel withdraw to the international border as Prime Minister Ehud Barak has been promising to do by July. Today a Katyusha rocket fired from southern Lebanbon hit a chicken coop on the Margulliot, a moshav (farming community) along Israel's northern border. JWH
