India's Homage to the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior in Westminster Abbey, 1924. The painting depicts an incident which occurred on the occasion of the wedding of H.R.H. Duke of York on 26 April 1923, when a party of the King's Indian Orderly Officers were conducted to the grave of the Unknown Warrior in Westminster Abbey, where they were received by the Abbey authorities. The King Emperor's four Sikh Indian Orderly Officers, Risaldar Jiwan Singh, I.D.S.M, Subadar Harnath Singh, M.C, I.O.M, Risaldar Rewat Singh, M.C, and Subadar-Major Bir Singh, M.C, standing by the grave of the Unknown Warrior. They are wearing white, blue and navy blue uniforms with red and gold kamarbands. Behind them on the left stand two Gentlemen-at-Arms in white-plumed helmets, red coats and blue trousers. On the right stand Canon Storr in scarlet, E.F. Knapp-Fisher, Receiver-General of the Abbey, in black with a white cravat, and a verger in black.
