A foreign exchange quotation board flashes the current rate over money dealers at a Tokyo brokerage September 14 where the dollar fell to 40-month lows against the yen. The Japanese currency breezed through another round of dollar-buying intervention, hitting levels that began to make the previously bullish stock market start to look nervous about the potential impact on earnings. The yen, which has climbed 15 percent since May, was quoted at 106.10 to the dollar in late Tokyo trade, only slightly below the level of 106.00 hit before central bank intervention. ES/DL
