Image description

Sayyed Jamal al-Din Muhammad b. Zaiyn al-Din Shirazi, the author of this Qasida, was a native of Shiraz and adopted the pseudonym Urfi in honour of his father. Then Urfi became the favorite poet of Akbar and also Jahangir, his successor. These initials sheets show the delicacy and original talent of the artists and Safavids copyists to carry out the books. A sober jadval framed the text in thin and firm nastaliq calligraphy, in two columns.
