Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Saturday Moscow was ready to take a more active role in resolving the political standoff in Yugoslavia and offered to send his foreign minister to Belgrade. Opposition supporters and Western countries say Kostunica won last Sunday's election outright and President Slobodan Milosevic must step down. But Yugoslavia's election commission said Kostunica fell just short of a 50 percent majority and has ordered a run-off poll for October 8.
