Video description

Olympos was part of the ancient region of Lycia. On the East Necropolis, on the lower slopes of the acropolis, 14 tombs can be seen. The Sarcophagus of Captain Eudemos is situated immediately opposite the entrance and near the north wall of the tomb chamber of Marcus Aurelius Zosimos' familial burial complex. Its podium is constructed of hewn limestone connected together with iron clamps. The sides of the tomb are ornamented and its back was made of rough masonry. There are supporting pillars on the corners of the front and sides. In the center of the front face there is a tabula ansata with a Greek inscription in ten lines. On the right side of the tabula ansata another inscription was found. At the bottom, there is a relief of a ship. A medusa motif was found in the center of the pediment. The right corner of the lid is broken and the top is flat and plain.
