Chairman of the Moslem-based United Development Party (PPP), Ismail Hasan Metareum, waves to reporters before opening a news conference, June 7, on the party's stance on the May 29 general elections. The PPP, which won just under 23 percent of the vote and has alleged various electoral irregularities, has been expected to say whether it will accept the results of the election. It said in a statement following a party leaders meeting that the PPP strongly protested what it calls various intimidation, terror and "vote buying" in the poll, adding the central executive board will convene sometime in the future to discuss the election results. The ruling Golkar party won more than 74 percent of the vote. The badly-split Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI) took three percent of the vote. INDONESIA ELECTION
