A traditionally-dressed man from eastern Indonesia's Irian Jaya chants anti-government slogans during a protest outside the Attorney General's office in Jakarta November 2. Protesters demanded the government close the giant copper and gold mine, Freeport McMoRan Copper & Gold, in Irian Jaya, on the western half of New Guinea island, because the company had given nothing to improve the condition of the locals, many are still living in Stone Age lifestyle. They also said Irianese would prefer to see an independent Irian Jaya if Jakarta failed to listen to their demand. EN/JJ/SB
