FOR RELEASE WITH STORY - VIETNAM-CLASH - A villager puffs on a cigarette behind a skull-and-cross-bones sign which reads "Dangerous Area. Do not enter" outside Tho Da, a small farming community on the northern outskirts of Hanoi. The villagers have fought pitched battles with riot police twice in recent months over moves to turn their rice fields into a swanky golf course. They are determined to win "fair" compensation before the bulldozers of the project developer, a joint venture between South Korea's giant Daewoo Group and a local partner, encroach any further on their land.
