British Acoustic Films who made it, flourished as a result of the rise of the 16mm film format which had boomed during the war as a portable training and entertainment facility for the forces, although this example, powered by an arc lamp would be fixed in a cinema. The company produced a range of equipment under license from American firms like Bell and Howell for the UK market.
