The tragic end of a shepherd boy. A cow was grazing on a meadow near Mezzane di Sotto (Verona); it was guarded by a nine-year-old boy, Giorgio Dal Dosso, who, in order not to move away, kept it for a cable secured to the right wrist with a slipknot. Suddenly, the cow went crazy and ran down the hill dragging the boy behind him. Attracted by his cries, some peasants came and managed to tame the animal and free little Giorgio from the grip of the string, but a few minutes later, however, died from the fracture of his skull.
