Image description

The capture of the bandit Dejana. After 196 days of fierce hunting conducted throughout Italy, the police managed to catch the dangerous outlaw, who escaped together with life imprisoner Benito Lucidi from Regina Coeli prison in Rome. The police had ascertained that Luigi Dejana was wandering the impervious mountains of Tolfa, near Civitavecchia, and, after many vicissitudes, the head of the Rome Mobile Squad, Dr. Macera, the lieutenant of the Carabinieri Rositani, and the guard Bressan, a Japanese wrestling instructor at the Neptune Police School, were able to approach him by posing as journalists and offering him three million for an interview. But, while the bandit posed in front of the camera, the Bressan guard, with a shot of jiu-jitsu disarmed him and landed him. Illustration for Courier Sunday, 19 September 1954.
