Purday, 45 High Holborn; Lithographed by Madeley, Wellington St, Strand. East John Westrop (1804-1856) Musician, born Lavenham, Suffolk. Lived Swinton Street, St Pancras, London & Middlesex, England Zenas Trivett Purday (1792-1866) Music publisher, later postmaster. George Edward Madeley (1798-1858) lithographer, printmaker, publisher/printer of 3 Wellington Street, Strand between 1829 and 1858. The print of a traditional coach suffering an accident through the loss of a wheel, while the new locomotive steams steadily on in the background presents a different view to most contemporary cartoons. The verses contain very confident hopes for the future of steam power with rail-roads to the moon envisaged.
