Commemorative ceremony in the Bundestag on the occasion of 17 June

On the occasion of the anniversary of the popular uprising in the Soviet zone and in East Berlin on Monday, 17 June 1957, the Federal Chancellor Dr Konrad Adenauer (left) put the ceremony of the federal government under the motto ""The dead persons are warning"" (translated as ""Die Toten Mahnen""). The Federal President Theodor Heuss (centre), the vice presidents of the Bundestag and Bundesrat, Ludwig Schneider and Peter Altmeier, members of the cabinet, the first chairman of the SPD, Peter Ollenhauer and numerous leading personalities of the public life and representatives of the diplomatic body participate in the ceremony taking place in the decorated plenary chamber of the Bundestag.
