‘Wie ich meinen Irländer fing!’ Following the French to British changeover in the trenches 18 July-8 August 1915 the Germans arranged raids to capture prisoners for information. 119 RIR captured the first British prisoners on 12/13 August, Lieutenant Warnock, who was serious wounded, and Corporal Stevenson of the 1st Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers. Left to right: V. Wundt, Corporal Stevenson, RIR 119 Officer, Basil, soldier, Ruoff, Lach. Commissioned by Lieutenant General Theodor von Wundt (1868-1929), Commander of the Wurttemberger 51 Reserve Infantry Brigade, while serving on the Somme between September 1914 and October 1916.
