The scene takes place within a palace, in a room occupied by a large table; five Apostles, sitting on a bench, turn their backs to the spectator; Jesus is head of the table, flanked by St. Peter to his right and St. John, who fell asleep on his chest; the Master dips bread into the dish in front of him, and says that will betray him the one who is doing the same, Judas Iscariot, sitting at the far left of the painting and wearing a yellow cloak; the others look at each others in bewilderment.
