Image description

On February 4, 1919, Henri Ravera is the son of a family of dry cleaners settled in Bagneux since 1890. In 1938 he worked at Gnome and Rhone where he joined the CGT. The same year he became a member of the French Communist Party. Mobilized in 1939, he was decorated with the Cross of War. In 1943, he resumed contact with the PCF, which entrusted him with the responsibility of the clandestine newspaper “Sport libre”. Between 1943 and 1944, he was a member of the Front National de Liberation. He actively participated in the liberation of Bagneux on the barricade of Rue des Blains and was one of those who gave the assault that allowed the Nazi occupant to take over the town hall. He was elected a municipal councillor at the age of 25. Passionate about sport, this defender of mass sport founded the COMB, which underwent a rapid essort. Sportsman himself, he distinguished himself as a cyclist, among others the final of the First Pas Dunlop. He became a journalist and was head of the sports section of Humanity between 1947 and 1953. Elected mayor in 1964 when Albert Petitty died, he also became general councillor. He disappeared on August 12, 1985, Henri Ravera was able to accompany the development of the small village of Bagneux into a modern town, well-equipped at the service of all the inhabitants. A tribute was paid to him on 29 August Bagneux 1975
