The O'Jays accept their Career Achievement Award during the 16th annual Soul Train Awards in Los Angeles in this March 20, 2002 file photo. The legendary rhythm and blues trio turned out hit after hit in the 1970's and fared pretty well in the 1980's. During that stretch, it was nearly impossible to avoid hearing their music on the radio. It's more difficult to get air play now, but the group is still thriving and showing no signs of letting up. "We've been trying to keep reinventing ourselves so we can keep the following that we do have........" O'Jays' Eddie Levert (C), 61, said in an August 11, 2003 interview.
