On the back of this photograph John James Frowde writes, "Third attempt - others shewed faults in film; this satisfactory. But enlarged to half-plate utterly hopeless & fuzzed. Taken out of series. (On R. Two double houses & a single on L - change of colour) But this snap gives a more faithful picture, in a sketchy way, than if it were ultra sharp. Softer effect. (The cat in the photo was the star turn in a circus stunt later. And the yellow pup.) OK for a deep sepia matt 'picture' effect. Should the Guild, Cruinnaght, or other organisation have, at any future date, a photo 'picture' section: these off focus films in deep sepia - mounted away on dark green card, might score."
