Image description: On June 27, 1964, at the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Swiss Air Force at Duebendorf military airport, four Stafeln Hawker Hunter Mk.58 fighter planes of the Swiss Army Surveillance Squadron were ready for action. The enthusiastic audience spontaneously named the squadron Patrouille Suisse after the French Patrouille de France. The Swiss Military Department (EMD) was convinced of the public appeal of the formation flight and therefore decided to appoint the Patrouille Suisse as the official national aerobatics team. Patrouille Suisse was founded two months later on 22 August 1964.
