Short Magazine Lee-Enfield (SMLE) .303 inch bolt action rifle No 4 Mk I 1943. Manufactured by Royal Ordnance Factory, Long Branch, Ontario, 1943. The No 4 Rifle is a simplified Short Magazine Lee Enfield (SMLE) Mk 3. Modified to allow mass production, the muzzle of the barrel was exposed and a new rear sight fitted. Two million examples were produced in Canada and the USA during World War Two (1939-1945).
