Image description

The Royal Australian Navy's newest and fastest ship, HMAS Jervis Bay, passes the Sydney Opera House June 11 as it reverses into dry-dock at the Garden Island Naval Base. The 86-metre wave piercing catamaran has a top speed of over 40 knots, and can carry up to 500 fully equipped troops, together with vehicles and equipment for trips of up to 1200 nautical miles. Built in Hobart, the catamaran will operate out of Darwin from June 30 after spending a week in dry-dock for a routine inspection.
