The Goblin is rarely seen or caught as it lives at an average depth of more than a kilometre. The Museum's collection of nearly one million fish and aquatic specimens, are mainly preserved in containers of ethyl alcohol after being first fixed in formaldehyde. The specimens are expected to remain in a perfectly preserved state indefinitely.
