Representatives of Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica are meeting with the United States in Tegucigalpa to discuss the details of the Central American Free Trade Agreement. While there are benefits, critics of CAFTA are worried the introduction of high-quality, low cost corn will negatively affect small scale production of the traditional grain, forcing many farmers to give up their land and move to urban areas.
