Image description

Recovering the Body of King Seqenenra. The final expulsion of the Hyksos, or Shepherd Kings, from Egypt, was hastened by the victory of Seqenenra, but success was dearly bought, for the king fell on the field of battle. The search for his body lasted all night, and it was only at dawn that it was found by his widowed queen, Aah-hotep, and his two sons, Kames and Aahmes. Illustration for Hutchinson's History of the Nations (Hutchinson, c.1920).
